What are Spanish style ceramic tiles? Most of us who live on the North American continent associate them with Spanish conquest. At the present time Spanish ceramic tiles are still produced in Mexico what seams to be the only source left. Perhaps there are other places handcrafting the tiles in Latin America but so far I didn’t found them yet. There are a variety of Spanish patterns in use. Most of them are made of two or perhaps three colors where one of them is antique white. Those tiles are made of talavera clay and hand painted with simple often geometric designs. Usually, Spanish style ceramic tile background is white. Beauty of the talavera tiles is that they develop crazing.
