Mexican talavera tiles can be divided into two groups. Wall tiles where the full pattern is visible after installing certain amount of tiles and borders which form a linear design. The second type is used usually for decorating stair risers and detailing end of the wall. Regular talavera tile designs from Mexico are made the way they form a pattern by incorporating into the style at least four neighboring tiles.
The above photo shows nine tiles placed together. The design forms a circular pattern with a yellow flower inside which is made of four tile corners.
The second pattern is made of three tiles installed next to each other. Cobalt color square background is visible only after placing two talavera tiles together.
